OUR DIY BATTEN SYSTEM

We have developed a multi-purpose top and bottom batten rail with pre-punched holes every 40mm. This makes it easy to create a straight, professional vertical batten layout without having to individually measure every batten.

The horizontal batten rails are fixed over the main sliding gate frame, allowing the vertical battens to create a full architectural facade across the face of the gate.

CHOOSE YOUR BATTEN GAP

The closer the battens are together, the more privacy you achieve. Closer spacing also uses more aluminium, so the price increases accordingly.

If you want a different gap, you can simply ignore the pre-punched holes and freestyle your own batten spacing during assembly.

GATE DEPTH & CONSTRUCTION

The vertical battens are 40x40mm aluminium and are mounted over the horizontal batten rail, which then sits over the main gate frame.

The finished gate depth is approximately 130mm:

• 40mm vertical batten
• 40mm batten rail
• Approximately 50mm main gate frame

Our battens contain 2 internal reinforcing ribs, giving the screws a strong internal fixing point. The extrusion and screw connection system has been designed to create a very strong finished gate without requiring the battens to be welded individually.

COLOUR OPTIONS

The vertical battens and sliding gate frame are available in:

• Satin Black
• Dark Grey – similar to Monument
• Gloss White

We also stock 76x76mm and 100x100mm aluminium posts. If you are also buying posts, make sure your final sliding gate width allows for the post positions and required overlap.

As a general guide, the top and bottom batten rails are usually positioned approximately 10% in from the top and bottom of the vertical battens.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE ORDERING

• $250 deposit per custom gate or panel is required when placing your order
• We normally cut custom orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Protective film may be left on the aluminium for you to remove after assembly
• Please allow approximately 3-6mm manufacturing tolerance in final sizes
• 40mm, 80mm and 120mm refer to the clear gap between the 40x40mm battens
